တစ်ခါက ရွာတစ်ရွာတွင် ကိုထူးနှင့် မယ်ဖူး အမည်ရှိသော လင်မယားနှစ်ယောက်ရှိ၏။

Once upon a time, in a village, there was a couple named Ko Htu and Mai Phu.

သူတို့က ကောက်ညှင်းပေါင်း ရောင်း၍ အသက်မွေးကြသည်။

They earned their living by selling the streamed glutinous rice.

တော့ ပြောရဦးမယ်

I've got something to tell you.

မနက်ဖြန် ကျုပ် ရပ်ဝေးကို ဈေးသွားရောင်းမလို့

Tomorrow, I'll sell my snack to far away place.

အဲဒါ တော်က အိမ်မှာနေပြီးကောက်ညှင်းပေါင်းနောက်တစ်အိုးပေါင်းထား

So you stay at home and steam another pot of glutinous rice.

ပေါင်းတတ်တယ် မဟုတ်လား

Can you stay at home and steam another pot of glutinous rice,

อยู่บ้านนึ่งข้าวเหนียวอีกหม้อได้ไหม

အံမာ နင်ကများ ငါ့ကို အထင်သေးလို့

Oh! Don't you understimate me like this.

မပေါင်းတတ်ဘဲ ရှိမလား

Why not I can steam it.

ဒီအလုပ်လုပ်စားလာတာ နှစ်ပေါင်းများစွာ ကြာနေပြီ၊ အံတိုနေပြီ

စိတ်ချပြီးသာ ဈေးရောင်းသွားပါ

သည်လိုနှင့် မယ်ဖူးလည်း ရပ်ဝေးသို့ ဈေးရောင်းထွက်သွားသည်။

ငါ့အလုပ်က အိမ်မှာနေရင်း ကောက်ညှင်းပေါင်းဖို့ပဲ

My main work is to stay at home and steam the glutinous rice.

It isn't a difficult task.

အရင်ဆုံး မီးဖို

First kindle a fire.

ပြီးရင် ပေါင်းခံအိုးတည်

Then put the pot to steam.

After that

ကောက်ညှင်းဆန်ထည့်ထားတဲ့ ပေါင်းအိုးကို အပေါ်ကတည် ဒါပဲပေါ့

Pot to steam the glutinous rice is put upon the boiling water pot.

တစ်နာရီခွဲကျော်ကြာရင် ကျက်ပြီ

About one and half hour, it will be cooked.

အေးဆေးနှပ်နေလို့တောင်ရသေး

I can take a rest easily.

ဟ ကျက်သေးဘူးဟ ဘယ်လိုဖြစ်တာပါလိမ့်၊ တော်တော်ကြာနေပြီ

မီးအားနည်းလို့ ထင်ပါရဲ့

သုံးနာရီ ကြာသည့်တိုင် ပေါင်းအိုးမှာ မနပ်သေး။

တစ်ခုခုတော့လွဲနေပြီ

Somthing wrong!

ဒါ တစ်ယောက်ယောက်က မနာလိုလို့ ပြုစားတာပဲဖြစ်ရမယ်

Someone curse on me because of jealousy.

มีคนสาปแช่งฉันเพราะความหึงหวง

ကိုထူးလည်း သည်းမခံနိုင်တော့သဖြင့် အရပ်ထဲ ထွက်ဆဲလေတော့သည်။

Unable to control his anger, Ko Htu yelled at the others.

ဟေ့..ဘယ်သူ့မှ.. မကြောက်ဘူးကွ..သတ္တိရှိရင်.. ထွက်လာခဲ့စပမ်းပါ

I don't afraid of anyone. Come on if you dare.

တို့ဟာတို့ ကောင်းရောင်းကောင်းဝယ် လုပ်ကိုင်စားသောက်နေတာ

We earn our living well with good deed.

သူများပစ္စည်း မခိုးဘူး

I never steal anybody's properties.

လိမ်ညာ မစားဘူး

I don't tell a lie.

ငါ့ပေါင်းအိုးကို မကျက်အောင် ဘယ်သူပြုစားထားတာလဲ၊ ယုတ်မာတဲ့ စုန်းကဝေတွေ သတ္တိရှိရင် 

ထွက်လာခဲ့စမ်းပါ၊ တစ်ယောက်ချင်း ချမယ်

Who spell a curse not to be cooked well. What a knavish ghosts and witches. 

I'll fight duel. Come on if you dare.

သူများ စီးပွားတက်တာ မနာလိုလို့လားကွ

Are you jealous of my success.

လာစမ်းပါကွ.. 

Come on!

ထိုအသံကို ဈေးရောင်းပြန်လာသော “မယ်ဖူး’ ကြားသွားလေပြီ။

His shouting was heard by Mai Phu who returned from selling the snack.

ဒီအသံ ကြားဖူးသလိုပဲ

I've heard this voice before.

.....

သတ္တိကြောင်တဲ့ စုန်းကဝေတွေ .. ထွက်လာခဲ့စမ်းပါ..

Come on! How coward the ghosts! Come on!

..

ငါ့ယောင်္ကျား အသံနဲ့တူလိုက်တာ

This voice seems to be my husband's voice

ဟယ် ခုနစ်မောင်းတင်ပြီး အော်နေတာ ငါ့ယောက်ျား ဖြစ်နေပါရောလား

Alas! The man who is shouting challengingly is none other than my 

ယောက်ျားရယ် လမ်းမကြီးအလယ်မှာ ဘယ်လိုဖြစ်နေတာလဲ

Hubby, how have you been on the road.

ဘယ်လိုဖြစ်ရမှာလဲ

Do you know what has happened to me?

ငါ့ကောက်ညှင်းပေါင်းအိုးကို မကျက်အောင်ပြုစားထားတဲ့ စုန်းကဝေတွေကို စိန်ခေါ်နေတာပေါ့

I'm challenging the witches who curse my glutinous rice not to be cooked.

ဟုတ်သေးပါဘူးရှင်

It isn't like that.

ကဲ လာ လာ အကျိုးအကြောင်း သိရအောင် အိမ် အမြန်ပြန်ကြစို့

Let's go back quickly what has happened to it.

အိမ်ပြန်ရောက်သောအခါ မယ်ဖူးက ပေါင်းအိုးကို အသေအချာ ဖွင့်ကြည့်၏။

When they arrived home, Mai Phu examined the steam pot.

ဟင်..

ပေါင်းခံအိုးထဲမှာ ရေမှမပါဘဲ

In the lower steam pot, there is no water.

ရေမပါဘဲနဲ့တော့ ဘယ်လောက် ပေါင်းပေါင်း ကောက်ညှင်းပေါင်းကနပ်မှာ မဟုတ်ဘူး

If there is no water, there i no steam and glutinous rice cannot be cooked.

ဟုတ်သားပဲ

Huh! Yes, of course.

ဟီ ဟိ ငါ မေ့သွားတယ်

Hee! Hee! I've forgotten.

ရေထည့်ဖို့ မေ့သွားတာ

I forget to put the water into it.

တော်မေ့တာက နောက်မှ အခု ရပ်ကွက်ထဲမှာ တော်က ဆဲပြီးသွားပြီ

You've yelled at the people in the quarter, before you forget to put the water.

နည်းနည်းပါးပါးပါ

That's the small matter,

အရပ်ထဲက လူတွေက ခွင့်လွှတ်တတ်ပါတယ်ကွာ

The people in the quarter will forgive me.

နောက် ဒီလို မဖြစ်စေရပါဘူး

I won't be this next time.

ဤအဖြစ်အပျက်ကို အကြောင်းပြု၍ “ကောက်ညှင်းမနပ် အရပ်အပြစ်တင်’ ဟူသောစကားပုံ 

ပေါ်ပေါက်လာခဲ့ရသည်။

Basing this story, there evolves a saying that "Blame the other without a cause".

အရပ်အား အရမ်းအပြစ်မတင်သင့်ပေ။

you blame the others.
